Hitting the heavy bag is a great way to increase the power in your punches. There is nothing like going to the gym and hitting the bag for a few rounds. But many people find that it can be difficult to get to the gym as much as they would like. A great substitute for a lot of people is to get some cheap MMA fight gear, including a heavy bag, for the house. It is a very convenient way to stay on course with your workout, in case you can’t make it to your class or to the gym.
Heavy bags come in 2 basic styles. One style is for boxers and the other is for Muay Thai Boxers. The boxing style heavy bag is purely for punches and the main difference is it hangs from the ceiling and comes down to about waist level. The Muay Thai Boxing heavy bag is for kicks, punches, knees and elbows. And also in MMA you can simulate takedowns on the Muay Thai Bag. The Muay Thai bag hangs from the ceiling as well and goes right down to the floor. It is a much longer bag, and it is typically a heavier bag.
You can hang the heavy bag from the studs or beams in your house, however, some people choose to buy a heavy bag mount that you can hang the heavy bag off of. It is a steel frame that is design for the bag to mount on to.
Other cheap MMA fight gear you can purchase for your home are the speed bag, double end elastic bag and training videos. All of these are very easy to set up at home and will keep you on your workout schedule, so you can achieve your goals.
Having the heavy bag and some cheap MMA fight gear at home allows you to still do your full workout, complete with skipping, shadow boxing and other conditioning drills. It is another great way to stay active if you need to miss your striking class.
