Sued for fighting?

A kid from my school and I recently agreed to settle some differences. Rather than fight at school we agreed that he would come down to my house and fight me with both of us wearing gloves and fighting underr MMA regulations (which allows punches, kicks, elbows, knees, throws, etc.). The kid came over today ad he seemed pretty confident that he would win. The fight lated about 3 minutes and he ended up with a very swollen face. Both of his eyes were blackened and he was bleeding from the nose and lip. I sat him down and gave him some water. He threw up a few times, told me “we should hang out some time”, and left my house. I think his mom gave him a car ride home. The fight is on tape… it shows us touching gloves at the beginning and I have over 10 people who heard him agree to fight and about 4 other who saw the fight. A friend of mine heard the story a moment ago and after he heard the story, he seemed pretty sure that the kids parents could and would sue… ?

Well, a defense to battery is consent (tort law) or mutual combat (criminal law) so if it’s on tape then it might be pretty hard for the kid’s parents to prevail. However, that isn’t saying they won’t try and if your parents have homeowners insurance, the other kids parents might try and sue to collect from that. Fighting is never the answer. I know that sounds cliche but it’s true.
