why do most mma artist so quick to say a martial arts dosent work or isnt practicle?

Don’t know what mixed martial artists you are talking to but, the name mixed “martial arts” is martial arts, so wouldnt that be hypocritical. I am a mixed martial artist, and my opinion on that is that “martial arts” in terms of fighting can be one dimensional if you are only taking one martial art. However mma is NOT meant for strictly self defense like most martial arts are. Its is mainly for sport. We do not train in knife take away and defense, and we DO NOT train with lethal techniques.

So maybe what the people you here from are refering to is that if a professional mma fighter were to face a master martial artist in a fight that the mma fighter would win. I would agree in most cases. The cases that would favor the master is the element of surprise as in they are close to each other and the fight is quickly finished.
